Ichang papeda tasting / flavor
2020年10月7日 · One possibility is there could be several different cultivars of Ichang papeda floating around, with slightly different shaped fruits. Maybe Ichang papeda was collected from different areas or different trees in China. I would imagine there could be a considerable amount of variability for this species in the wild.

2017年3月5日 · I grafted my Ichang papeda on flying dragon so it isn't very big. It has pretty leaves similar to kaffir lime. My papeda fruit are small and all virtually seedless or have aborted seeds. I feel that my Ichang lemon tree is prettier though and the larger fruit is more useful. It has survived along side the papeda without much issue.

2020年12月9日 · In the initial cross, Ichang papeda probably would have been the female parent. The genetic marker studies show that Yuzu shares a much closer affinity to Ichang papeda than to mandarin. "Sour mandarin" may be a sub-species of mandarin, kind of like a wild mandarin type, originally native to China.

2023年5月16日 · Ichang papeda is very heterogenous I've heard. I've also heard that even self pollinating it with itself will not be true to type and may show different characteristics like hardiness, fruit size, dry pith vs juicy pith, and leaf petiole size.

2019年9月21日 · Thanks lebmung. According to your experience on ichang papeda, it must be a useless variety then. I don't think a citrus variety that offers insipid leaves will produce fragrant fruits. Ichang papeda hybrid might slightly improve the cold hardiness but might as well give up the quality of fruits.
