The First Modern SETI Experiment. The first technically sophisticated attempt to actually discover radio communications from beyond Earth was Project Ozma, a several month effort by a young radio astronomer, Frank Drake.Although unaware of the Nature paper published a year earlier, Drake had come to conclusions similar to those of Morrison and Cocconi.
