They are not particularly strong bearings with a torque limit of around 250Nm. This may sound a lot but how much force goes through the crank when you have a hard pedal strike or fall off the bike for example?

2022年10月12日 · They dismantled so many Brose motors and the sprag clutch is a very common source of faillure according to them. Given the fact that the bearing housing is made of plastic, a tooth can rotate inside the housing and cause the EXACT noise/problem that i have on my bike.

2020年5月3日 · When these sprag bearing start to go they can slip and grip. This slipping and gripping action is actually very violent for the bearing itself. It causes the small spacers in between the sprags to break off and eventually flip over and become useless, this eventually leads to slipping or complete failure.

2020年6月11日 · We've bought 4 2020 Turbo Levo Comps. 3 of the 4 Levos have experienced belt failures (or sprag clutch), all under 500mi. We absolutely love our Levos, but if we continue having belt failures, I may start looking at other bikes. I'm curious how common and how problematic this issue is.

After inspecting inside- i know exactly what is making noise- Sprag clutch bearing- which is transfering torque from cranks to motor axis. it was not enough grease there- and it went completly rusty. (Little lubricant there has reason- it is actually holding all power from cranks) but it was possible too little.

2024年9月27日 · The shimano Derailleur has a clutch which is supposed to stop this (it stiffens the chain tensioner in one direction). My thought was that because of this damping the whipping was being g transferred to the sprag clutch in the motor. To check this I turned the Derailleur clutch off and low and behold the noise stopped.

2023年2月23日 · Never ever broke a crank which was largely myth. The chain ring appears loose but is actually part of the design of the large sprag bearing, when the bearing locks, it takes out the movement. The slippage you talk about was one batch bearings of over filled with grease, it takes about 20 minutes to replace them with another £20.00 bearing.
