Optic Nerve Drusen Visual Field Loss - University of Iowa
2007年8月14日 · Drusen is also associated with rare disorders such as pseudoxanthoma elasticum (with a prevalence of about 1:160,000) and angioid streaks (with a prevalence of 1:80,000). Although these two conditions are fairly rare, 85% of people with pseudoxanthoma elasticum also have angioid streaks, making drusen a common connection between the two ...
Malattia Leventinese (Familial Dominant Drusen): - University of Iowa
2007年2月12日 · The term familial drusen (or familial dominant drusen) is used to describe a group of visual conditions in which radiating drusen and a type of macular degeneration that occurs in very young patients. Two specific conditions were initially described in the literature as separate entities.
Age-related macular degeneration - University of Iowa
Category 2 (Early AMD): Several small drusen, few intermediate-sized (63-124µm) drusen, and/or pigmentary changes in one or both eyes; Category 3 (Intermediate AMD): Extensive (i.e., 20 soft or 65 hard without any soft) intermediate-sized drusen, one large (>125µm) druse, and/or geographic atrophy not involving the macula in one or both eyes
Atlas Entry - Cuticular Drusen - University of Iowa
Cuticular drusen, also known as basal laminar drusen, are a type of familial drusen characterized by many clumps of tiny, extramacular drusen. They are strongly associated with the Tyr402His variant of the complement factor H (CFH) gene. Acuity often remains good as long at the drusen remain outside of the fovea.
Hard exudates. COMS Grading - University of Iowa
2006年6月27日 · Exudates are occasionally deposited along retinal veins. On angiography, small dots are not visible, but larger patches may block choroidal fluorescence. Exudates are differentiated from drusen which hyperfluoresce during the transit phase and become less prominent in late phases.
Angioid Streaks and Optic Disc Drusen in Pseudoxanthoma …
Associated optic disc drusen are common. Usually asymptomatic even if they cross into the foveal area, but complications include choroidal neovascularization and choroidal rupture. Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum. Also known as Gronblad-Strandberg syndrome. Caused by an autosomal recessive mutation in the ABCC6 gene on chromosome 16p13.1
Age-Related Macular Degeneration: From One Medical Student to …
2018年2月26日 · Small, hard drusen and larger soft drusen within the macula are characteristic of dry AMD. Atrophy of the RPE may also be present and appears as a well-demarcated area of yellowing within the retina with easy visualization of the choroidal vessels[3] (Figure 4). Drusen are also present in cases of wet AMD, but CNV are inherent.
Atlas Entry - Optic Disc Drusen - University of Iowa
In cases of extruded/exposed optic disc drusen, the drusen are easily visible on fundus exam, SD-OCT, and/or autofluorescence as demonstrated in A-C. Ultrasound echography may be needed to idenitify very deep calcified drusen. Calcified drusen are seen on ultrasound as hyperechoic with posterior shadowing (white arrows) [1].
Atlas Entry - Choroidal Nevus - University of Iowa
A typical choroidal nevus is slate gray in color and flat. Drusen are a sign of chronicity, i.e. they are present in a nevus that has been present for a long time. Nevi do not usually have orange pigmentation or subretinal fluid associated with them.
Angioid Streaks and Optic Disc Drusen in Pseudoxanthoma …
2013年8月15日 · Associated optic disc drusen are common (Figure 1 and 3). Patients with angioid streaks are typically asymptomatic, even if the streaks cross into the foveal region. Associated complications include choroidal neovascularization and choroidal rupture with minimal trauma.
