2011年5月24日 · My one brother who is in the Army, was issued a Gerber BO MP600 with a tactical MOLLE sheath. My other brother who is in the Marine Corps, said that they weren't issued any multi-tools, but were told to buy one. He said that most Marines carry Leatherman Charge AL's, ALX's, and Waves because that is what they sold at the PX.

I have always snapped off Gerber multi tool bits and broken the jaw of their pliers, but I have never destroyed a Leatherman. The Gerber might have a longer lasting edge but the Leatherman is slightly softer steel and has some flex for durability.

This is current as of 2 years ago in my son’s unit. He is a 11B3P in the NCARNG. Unit issue. In my 16 years active guard and reserve, I was never issued any knife.

If some Canadian soldier wanted to keep or lost his knife, he could turn in the cheap copy, and they would re-issue that to someone else if they did not notice it.
