”Lights Out” debuted on April 17, 1935, as a 15-minute show on NBC`s Red Network out of Chicago but was so popular that it was expanded to a half hour.
Lights Out is about the show’s final taping on December 17, 1957. But it’s also about Nat Cole himself, and what he endured despite—or perhaps because of—being the first black superstar.
