The Iowa Hawkeyes have been hit hard by the NCAA transfer portal. As players evaluate their futures following the conclusion of the season and the firing of head coach Fran McCaffery, a number of Hawkeyes have made the decision to at least explore playing college basketball elsewhere during the 2025-26 season.

The transfer portal and NIL deals have made it even more difficult. The ability to transfer from a school without having to sit out a year has created a revolving door of rosters, forcing coaches to overhaul their teams nearly every year. NIL opportunities have turned into karats to lure players out of high school or from other programs.

New Mexico State men’s basketball had its first entry into the NCAA transfer portal of the offseason on Thursday. Multiple reports saying senior guard Zawdie Jackson is set to enter the transfer portal.
