Bankrupt drugmaker Purdue Pharma filed a new bankruptcy plan on Tuesday, a major step toward finalizing a proposed opioid settlement of at least $7.4 billion after a setback in the U.S. Supreme Court last year.

Bankrupt opioid manufacturer Purdue and the Sackler family have agreed to a $7.4 billion settlement to resolve opioid claims by state and municipal governments and individuals.

Members of the Sackler family who own the OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma would hand over the company and up to $7 billion in cash in the latest plan to settle thousands of lawsuits over the toll of opioids.
