Award-winning sportswriter, broadcaster and author John Feinstein died Thursday at his brother Robert Feinstein's home in McLean, Virginia, his family announced. He was 69 years old. Feinstein was a columnist for the Washington Post,

A longtime columnist for The Washington Post, he also wrote dozens of books about basketball, baseball, tennis, football and the Olympics.

Feinstein was comfortable writing fiction and nonfiction, and took on an array of sports, including golf and tennis, but he was known most for his connection to college basketball
