Hi Would like to check if I want to stay in Abashiri, is it possible to go to lake mashu for star gaze in the evening and back to Abashiri..? By the way anyone has any idea if the lake mashu star gaze is worth going..? Any idea any special about the star gazing here compared to other areas..?

I don’t recommend that. Better to stay over in Lake Mashu for a night before heading back to Abashiri.

Hi: I was there is January so I assume it will be open unless there is a heavy snow cover. When we were there there was some snow but did not interfere with the visit.

Did not visit the place via local transport but with hotel staff's car but local train on JR Senmou Line, from Kushiro to Mashu station is about 1 hour and 30 minutes, then there is route …
